Zorba – The largest dog ever

The largest dog ever recorded was an English Mastiff named Zorba. He weighed 343 pounds (155.67 kg) and measured 8 feet 3 inches (2.51 meters) from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail. He was owned by a British man named Les Hall, and was officially recognized as the world’s heaviest dog by the Guinness World Records in 1989. However, it is important to note that dogs of such massive size are not considered healthy and it is not recommended to breed or own them as they can suffer from many health problems, also they have a shorter life expectancy.

The largest breed of dog, based on average weight and height, is the English Mastiff. These dogs can weigh up to 250 pounds and stand up to 36 inches tall at the shoulder. They have a massive head and a thick, drooping lower lip. They are known for their calm and gentle temperament, but can be protective of their owners if they sense a threat. English Mastiffs were originally bred as guard dogs and war dogs, but today they are primarily kept as companion animals. They are also good with children and known for being loyal, protective and loving. Other large breeds include the Saint Bernard, Neapolitan Mastiff, and the Great Dane which is known to be the tallest dog breed.
